The Next Wave of Food-Inspired Beauty Trends Is Here

Growing popularity of banana and ube are spreading across social media and café culture.

As the foodie trend of 2025 continues to bear fruit into 2026 in the beauty and personal care spaces, the next wave of grub-inspired trends have arrived.

Analysts at Fresha say searches for “banana skin care” increased by 22% across the last few months, and ube-inspired beauty products beginning to gain traction after a growing popularity across social media and café culture.

“Ingredients that gain traction in mainstream food culture often find a second life in beauty, and brands are smart to capitalize on this,” said Annabelle Taurua, beauty expert at Fresha, a leading beauty and wellness booking platform. “If consumers already have a connection to the ingredients, as they’ve maybe worked well in cafes and within the wellness space, the audience is likely to engage with them on the beauty counter too.”

Edible Beauty’s Visible Impact

Consumers are bananas over Rhode’s caramelized banana lip treatment.

While banana and ube come from the same food-inspired trend, they appeal to consumers in very different ways, analysts say.

Banana beauty taps into the rise of consumer demand for what consumers call “edible” beauty: products that feel more holistic and natural in their creation, rather than filled with ingredients unfamiliar to a mass audience. In 2026, brands are reportedly under more pressure than ever to make beauty feel more accessible and less clinical. Consequently, this calls for food-based actives.

Fresha says the Haily Bieber’s cosmetics brand, Rhode, is an early adopter of the emerging trend, with the recent launch of its caramelized banana lip treatment and banana peel peptide eye prep patches. Their popularity is further peeled, of course, by megastar influence.

Ube’s appeal, on the other hand, comes more from its novelty and visual aesthetic.

Le Monde Gourmand’s Banane Délice Eau de Parfum.

“Unlike bananas, ube is relatively unfamiliar, especially to many Western consumers, which actually works in its favor,” said Taurua. “Trend-forward beauty shoppers are always looking for the next big thing, and ube’s offers a sense of discovery that mainstream ingredients can’t replicate.”

She added ube’s violet purple to bright lavender color palette offers a “playful and bold” appeal.

“Like our coffees and teas, whether they’re takeout or not, beauty products today are driven by their aesthetic and shareability,” she added. “And in an era where shareability drives discovery, that visual impact matters enormously. A product that looks as good as it performs is always going to have an advantage, and ube delivers on both fronts.”

Recently, Le Monde Gourmand released Banane Délice Eau de Parfum. Inspired by vacations and summer indulgences, it opens with whipped banana milk blended with juicy pineapple and bright orange, before melting into sugared musk.
